The Witcher 3 - Count Reuven's Treasure, Menge, Whoreson Junior, arena, Roche

How to complete the Count Reuven's Treasure quest, track down Whoreson Junior, and survive all three of your fights in the arena.

This page covers Count Reuven's Treasure, Menge, Whoreson Junior, arena and Roche. If you're looking for more assistance, our Witcher 3 walkthrough can help.

Make your way through the city streets and toward the Eternal Flame shrine, using the objective marker as a guide. Assuming you're ready to begin the next stage of your quest, open the Meditation menu and wind time forward to midnight (or 12 am, if you prefer). Once Triss arrives, exhaust the conversation options to begin the mission.

Count Reuven's Treasure

One the other side of the gates, tell the guard that you need to speak to Menge and that you have information for him. When the guard asks about Philippa, reply that you'll spill to Menge and Menge alone. That should get you inside with out any additional hassle.

Follow the witch hunter leader

Follow the witch hunter into the nearby building and up the wooden steps. At the top, agree to hand over Triss (note that attempting to use the Axii Sign during the conversation will cause the guards to attack, so be careful) then go see Menge.

Accept a drink from your host and, when the option arises, claim that Triss betrayed you. Once Menge asks what you'd like in return for information on Philippa, request that he frees Dandelion. When you're finally reunited with Triss, work your way through the dialogue options and bring the conversation to a close.

Find a way out of the witch hunters' outpost

(Optional) Sneak out of the witch hunters' outpost

Your next task is to leave the witch hunters' outpost unscathed - stealthily or otherwise. Follow Triss into the next room then decide how you want to proceed. Heading through the open door to the east immediately alerts the guards in the building, forcing you to fight your way to freedom. If you want to take the stealthy route, use the recently-acquired key to unlock the door to the west. From there, all you need do is descend the steps outside to proceed.

Find a way out of the witch hunters' outpost

While Triss lets off some steam, locate the hut in the centre of the yard and climb up onto the roof. Next, leap off the small wooden platform to reach the street on the other side of the wall. Immediately head right and look for the crumbling wall directly ahead. Use your Aard Sign to smash it to pieces then pass on through. Dijkstra is waiting for you nearby, so work your way through the conversation to claim your reward.

Talk to Priscilla

With that bit of business taken care of, return to the Kingfisher Inn and speak with Priscilla to bring the current quest to an end.

Get Junior (continued)

Find Whoreson Junior's hideout

Now that Dijkstra's problems have been taken care of, it's time to turn your attention to Whoreson Junior. Ensure that the Get Junior quest is active then leave the Kingfisher Inn. Your first port of call is Junior's hideout so follow the objective marker to your destination.

Search Whoreson Junior's hideout using your Witcher Senses

Head through the front door and activate your Witcher Senses. Examine the books near the corpse then head upstairs to next the floor. Investigate the pile of clothes at the top of the steps and the tools hanging on the wall nearby. This completes your current task so loot the building if you please then exit the building.

Find Whoreson Junior's casino

Begin winding your way back through the streets in the direction of the objective marker. On arrival at the casino, descend the steps and interact with the door to continue. You've a number of options when speaking to the doormen: either offer to make a deal (which has no effect), threaten them, hand over some cash or attempt to influence their minds. Save your cash and either draw your sword of, if you have Delusion Level 2, use a spot of magic to gain entrance to the building.

Play cards with the casino guests

Inside the casino, head upstairs and speak to the card-playing rogues at tables around the room. You're free to chat and play cards with them as much as you like. Be careful, however: if you probe them too aggressively about Whoreson, you'll draw the ire of the nearby thugs and start a fight.

In order to complete the casino quest, beat all three men in a game of Gwent. This isn't essential to the main quest, however, so head to the next objective marker once you've had enough. Before you leave, however, make your way upstairs and do some looting. You'll find a mace in a chest, among other things, so fill your pockets exit the building.

Visit Whoreson Junior's arena

Back outside, wind your way through the streets toward the arena entrance, using the objective marker as a guide. On arrival, speak to the thugs guarding the gates and either cast Axii or fight them to get inside the arena.

Talk to Igor

Make your way down the steps and follow the passage along until you reach Igor's chamber. Speak to him and offer your services to proceed. When you're asked about your experience, tell Igor that you've done your share of fighting. Agree to three rounds of combat in the arena then, if you're prepared, start the battle.

How to kill your opponents in the arena

Fight in the ring to prove you'd make a good bodyguard

Your first opponent in the ring is Gustav Roene. He's a doddle to beat so simply swing your sword around until he's dead. Your next two opponents are even easier than the last. Bring them down quickly and prepare to fight your third challenger: a wyvern.

Although the creature's fearsome appearance might suggest otherwise, this is another easy fight. Dodge the wyvern's claw attacks whenever it leaves the ground and pile on the attacks when it lands again. Once it's dead, loot the corpse and ready yourself for more opponents.

The two endrega warriors unleashed next are a little tougher than your previous opponents, but not significantly so. Use Thunderbolt to bolster your attacks if you wish and cast a protective shield for some added protection when you're surrounded. Job done.

Your final opponent is Boris the bear. He's much stronger and hardier than anything you've fought in the ring so far - but shouldn't cause you too much strife. Just bolster your attacks and defences as before and wail on him from behind. Once he's down, you'll finally meet Whoreson.

When the cut-scene ends, turn your attention to the henchmen that pour into the ring. Most are easy to deal with - but keep watch for the nearly-naked opponent carrying a shield. It takes a number of hits to smash through his defences normally, so you might want to cast Aard to stun him temporarily. This enables you to quickly dash around to his rear and strike.

Search the arena for information about Whoreson

With your enemies defeated, loot the bodies on the ground. In particular, look out for Igor's key when you search your fallen opponents. Next, follow the passage leading east and immediately take a left, heading through the gate ahead. Continue along the tunnel and pass through the gate to the left at the end of the incline.

Immediately take a right and begin assisting the dwarves in their fight. Next, about-face, head along the tunnel leading east and finish off the remaining henchmen. Swipe the 'Message from Igor' document and gold ring from the table near the chair. Next, open your inventory and read the 'Message from Igor' document in your Quest Items.

Use your Witcher Senses to find way to access the secret stash

When you're ready, begin retracing your steps toward to the arena. Pass through the gate at the bottom of the incline and continue forward until you reach the junction. Turn left and activate your Witcher Senses. Locate the glowing red torch on the far wall and interact with it to open the secret door nearby. Head on through, loot the Cidarian cavalry armour from the small chest to the left then open the box directly ahead. Take the mysterious letter and the coins that you find.

Read the mysterious letter

Once again, open your inventory. This time, read the mysterious letter in your Quest Items.

Talk to Dijkstra about Whoreson's ties to the Redanians

When you're ready, follow the objective marker back outside and return to the bathhouse. Locate Dijkstra in his office and engage him in conversation. Tell him that Junior is working with the Redanians and that you got your intel from a reliable source to wrap things up.

Talk to Vernon Roche in the partisan camp

Outside the bathhouse, mount your steed and follow the objective marker beyond the city walls and across the countryside. Once you reach your destination, converse with the guard and, eventually, you'll be granted an audience with Roche. Work your way through the dialogue options and bring the conversation to a close.

Meet Roche by the bridge in Oxenfurt

Next, leave the cave and make your way back to Oxenfurt. You'll find Roche waiting for you near the objective marker on your mini-map - speak with him to proceed.

Enter the chess club with Roche

Follow Roche along the track until you reach the chess club nearby. Inside the building, work though the dialogue options and tell the king that you're looking for Whoreson Junior. When you have the information you need, finish the conversation. Note that the Gangs of Novigrad secondary quest and casino objective will automatically end now if they're still incomplete. On the plus side, you'll gain access to the An Eye for an Eye secondary quest.

Get inside Whoreson's hideout

Back outside, cross the river and enter Oxenfurt. Wind your way through the streets until you reach Whoreson's hideout. Interact with the door to being a conversation with the guards. Tell them that you're here about the girls and that you're new to the job.

Use the secret passage to reach Junior's hideout

With the conversation over, follow the objective marker down to the river and enter the building nearby. Locate the trapdoor in the north-east corner of the room and make your way down the ladder. At the bottom, head west and follow the passage as it winds around. Once you reach the apparent dead end, activate your Witcher Senses to locate the crumbling wall. Use Aard on the bricks to clear a path and immediately deal with the enemies that attack. Finally, climb the long wooden staircase to reach the floor above.

Search Whoreson Junior's residence

At the top of the steps, turn right then right again. In the dining room, deal with the remaining henchmen then head north. Climb the staircase then prepare to ambush Whoreson in his room.

Kill Whoreson Junior

Make your way through the door and, once Geralt has calmed down, explain that you've come to talk. Ask about Ciri and ready yourself for a flashback.

Ciri's Story: Visiting Junior

Get on the roof

With Ciri now under your control, speak to Dandelion and work your way through the dialogue options. Next, climb the nearby ladder and wind your way around the wooden platform, scaling each ledge until you reach the roof of Junior's abode.

Get on the balcony

Cross the roof, heading in the direction of the objective marker, and drop down onto Junior's balcony. Finally, enter the building via the nearby window.

Kill Whoreson Junior

Next, you need to defeat Whoreson Junior in battle. There are a few new wrinkles to combat this time around, however. From here on in, Ciri can activate her special abilities during a fight - but only when her Energy bar is full. As you'd expect, using an ability drains the Energy bar and it will automatically refill over time. Note that you can speed up its recovery by attacking enemies.

Currently, the only ability at your disposal is Blink. This lets you to launch a lightning fast attack on up to five enemies at once. Try it out on Whoreson Junior, mixing it in with your usual sword attacks and dodges in order to bring him down.

Escape Whoreson Junior's hideout

When your target escapes, defeat Junior's henchmen and make your way through the door at the end of the room. Descend the steps and, once you reach the floor below, deal with the next wave of opponents. To complete your objective, head down to ground level and hack your way through Whoreson's remaining guards. Finally, exit the building.

Back in the present day, ask what happened to your friends then work your way through the remaining dialogue options. Decide how to deal with Whoreson and bring the quest to a close.
