The Witcher 3 - Velen: every side quest in the Mudplough and Grayrocks regions

How to find every side quest in the Mudplough and Grayrocks regions of Velen in The Witcher 3, and what you need to do to complete them.

If you're not sure if you've unlocked every Secondary Quest in Mudplough and Grayrocks, here's our breakdown of where you can find all of the bonus content.

At the Mercy of Strangers, Bitter Harvest and Caravan Attack

At the Mercy of Strangers

Go south of the riverback as you head west from Mulbrydale. Kill the trio of drowners you come to, then walk towards the screaming noises. Help the person here or leave him - if you choose the former, you'll find him to the north of the Pontar river later on, and can either take his reward or fight him and his chums.

Bitter Harvest

Head to the bog to the south of Halver isle and kill all of the nearby enemies. Talk to Albin Hart and agree to protect him and his friends from the monsters. Prioritise killing the ghouls who attack from the southern edge, but pick off the bandits from the east when you can. Keep your eyes on the minimap too, so you spot any stragglers you haven't dealt with.

After a dozen or so slayings, the quest concludes.

Caravan Attack

Find the caravan by the ponds to the west of Marauder's Bridge. Kill the people attacking the caravaneers, then talk to the victims when the fight's over to get your reward. A new Crow's Perch merchant will appear in seven days.

Death By Fire and Fake Papers

Death By Fire

Head to the burning cottage near Codger's Quarry. Use Aard to free the trapped elf, then speak to her and work through all of the dialogue. When you're done, go and gather your stashed rewards.

Fake Papers

Chances are you've already got a travel permit by this point, but you can buy one for 100 Crowns from the shady merchant to the north-north-east of Hanged Man's Tree. Alternatively, you can get a discount of 50 Crowns if you have sufficient Axii, or want to do the merchant's quest.

Funeral Pyres and Harassing a Troll

Funeral Pyres

Follow the markers and burn the bodies. Each grave will be guarded by ghouls, and the last one will have a survivor. Head back to the priest, and then either take a bribe or kill everyone.

Harassing a Troll

Head into the woods north-west of the Inn at the Crossroads. By the riverbanks are some rocks and a fire. Kill the nekkers nearby, then take your rewards to finish the quest.

Looters (2) and Man's Best Friend

Looters (2)

More miserable victims await your sword up at Codger's Quarry.

Man's Best Friend

Go to the cottage located between the Border Post and Inn at the Crossroads. Examine the campfire near the dog, then slaughter it and use your Witcher Senses to look the dog over. Head to the door where the voices are coming from and get the kids out. Give them some money or food to get their humble reward.

Thou Shalt Not Pass and The Volunteer

Thou Shalt Not Pass

Approach the guards at the Pontar River bridges to find out you need a special pass in order to proceed. Go to the refugee camp and get your pass from the shady merchant. You're now free to cross at the previously blocked-off bridges.

The Volunteer

On an island west of Oxenfurt you'll find the White Eagle Fort. Talk to the slightly eccentric troll, and then choose to either kill him or let him live. If you let him live, he sends you on an errand for paint - head back into Oxenfurt and buy some paint from the merchant (he's only there during the daytime, so meditate if needed).

Return to the troll and paint the shield emblem for him in order to complete the quest.
