The Witcher 3 - Dead Man's Party, Open Sesame!, The Safecracker, Breaking and Entering

How to complete Dead Man's Party, Open Sesame!, The Safecracker and Breaking and Entering in the Hearts of Stone expansion for The Witcher 3.

This page covers Dead Man's Party, Open Sesame!, The Safecracker and Breaking and Entering. If you're looking for more assistance, our Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone walkthrough can help.

Head back to Oxenfurt, enter Shani's clinic, and then go upstairs. After the cutscene has finished, head for the marker and talk to Shani. Accept her request to accompany her to a wedding, then enter the crypt.

Dead Man's Party

Level 33

Upon reaching the central chamber you'll be ambushed by some Wraiths, so throw down Yrden and get rid of them fast. Use your Witcher Sense and examine the tomb in the north-east area of the chamber, equip the Censer and then spread incense in the marked areas. Next, return to the central room and ignite the votive in the middle of the area.

Naturally, nothing in Geralt's life ever goes according to plan, so a few ghosts will spawn which you'll need to be destroyed before Vlod will appear. Let him possess you he'll eventually end up taking the spot as Shani's +1 for the nuptuals.

Once the cutscene is over, use Aard on the broken wall in the central chamber, climb through the hole, loot the corpse at the bottom to retrieve a key, and then work your way along the tunnel, looting as you go. There'll be a spider ambush halfway through this bit - and Vlod will give you some grief - but loot's loot!

Once you get outside you'll be unable to fast travel, so make your way on foot or horseback to the marker. Vlod will possess you again, at which point it's time for a bit of meet and greet, along with some minor distractions. Be warned that the pig wrangling can be an exercise in frustration, and unless you have a very strong Gwent deck you're liable to be destroyed by the Halflings.

After a couple of diversions you'll end up dancing with Shani. Gaunter will show up and cause a spot of bother, then you've got time for two more diversions before you have a scrap with a couple of bumpkins. After another lengthy cutscene you'll trigger the quest A Midnight Clear, and be left with the task of cheering Shani up.

Locate the rowan bush and take her some berries, then follow the dialogue options. There's an optional romance scene here if you express an interest, but whichever path you choose this will finish up a Midnight Clear. Return to Oxenfurt and speak to Olgeird to finish Dead Man's Party.

Open Sesame!

Level 34

Head for the marker. An old associate will conveniently turn up and you'll be granted entry to the auction. Once you're upstairs, talk to Vimme's friends - one has some diagrams for sale, one offers a game of Gwent, and one offers you a tip on a painting in the auction. When he asks, identify the picture of the merchant as the van der Knoob and he'll suggest you buy the van Kogh.

During the auction you can choose to bid on the items, although whether they're worth buying or not is uncertain. During the intermission you'll be introduced to Borsodi, who'll have you kicked out. After a quick brawl a mysterious stranger says he can help, and then directs you to the herbalist just outside Oxenfurt. Defeat the soldiers banging on his door and ask him about the yarrow. He'll let you into the basement where you can listen to the plan, and pick your sidekicks.

The Safecracker

Casimir: When you arrive he's threatening to blow himself up. Talk him down (using Axii is the simplest way) and he'll agree to join you.

Quinto: Head for the mercenary camp and pay the bounty (200, although this can be haggled over).

Breaking and Entering

Hoff: Head to the marker in Novigrad and knock on the door. Use Witcher Sense to examine the bloodstain on the post, then follow the footprints. Defeat the thugs when you reach the riverbank, then swim to the marked area on the map and dive under to discover that Hoff has shuffled off this mortal coil.

Gallo: Head to the marker just north of Carsten and talk to her. She'll help, but first you need to pull off a spot of William Tell action with your crossbow. Hold down R1/RB to aim at the apples, and be careful not to hit the performer!
