Our best look yet at the promising Planet Coaster

The spiritual successor to RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.

Elite: Dangerous developer Frontier has released a new developer diary for Planet Coaster, the promising-looking PC theme park sim.

One thing that jumped out to me: you can create dark rides. That is, you can tunnel through the landscape. So, we're all lighting specialists now!

Planet Coaster, due out this year, is the spiritual successor to Frontier's own RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. Frontier can't make another RollerCoaster Tycoon because the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise is owned by Atari, which is building RollerCoaster Tycoon World. That's a lot of RollerCoasters!
