Shocker! Five Nights at Freddy's World is out now

See you on the flipside.

Five Nights at Freddy's World - the RPG spin-off of Scott Cawthon's popular horror series about animatronic animals in an abandoned pizza joint - is out now available on Steam for £6.99 / $9.99.

Five Nights at Freddy's World is billed as the series' final entry. But will it really be?

That's somewhat surprising as it wasn't expected to come out until 19th February. I say "somewhat surprising" though as Cawthon is known for releasing games early, as he did with the last three Five Nights at Freddy's entries.

Five Nights at Freddy's World is a departure for the series as it's an RPG allowing players to play as 40 different characters with multiple endings and a selectable difficulty level. Cawthon offered the following synopsis of his latest adventure:

"Take control of Freddy and the gang as they set out on a quest in the world beneath worlds, a world that reflects the actions and deeds of the 'flipside', where things have started becoming distorted and broken. Lead your team deeper into this digital world to find the source of these glitches and monsters, and restore it to what it was designed to be- a safe haven."

"But be careful, behind the curtain there may be something even more sinister pulling the strings..."

Five Nights at Freddy's World is also coming to iPhone, iPad and Android devices, though it's unclear when that will be. It could be on the scheduled 19th February release, it could be tomorrow, or it could be never. Cawthon likes to keep it real like that.

While this is the first FNAF game to be an RPG, it's not Cawthon's first foray into the genre as he previously released a stylish sci-fi adventure/RPG about a sentient coffee pot. It was called The Desolate Hope and it's available for free on Steam.

In other recent FNAF news, the 464-page eBook novel, Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes, was released last month, while Warner Bros. is planning to make a movie based on the runaway success of the series. Currently Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember and the Poltergeist remake) is set to direct while the script will be penned by Kenan and Sleeping Dogs scribe Tyler Burton Smith.
