World of Tanks rolls onto PS4 next week

And you don't need PlayStation Plus.

Massively multiplayer online war game World of Tanks will roll out on PlayStation 4 next Tuesday, 19th January.

The launch comes after a couple of PS4 beta tests, and follows earlier launches for PC, Xbox 360 and then Xbox One.

Developer and publisher Wargaming has said World of Tanks on PS4 does not need a PS Plus subscription to play - which differs from the game's Xbox versions where players must have an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Wargaming boss Victor Kislyi has previously complained about Microsoft's requirement that players must have an Gold subscription. (Those without a paid subscription get seven days of free play, however.)

On PS4, anyone who is a PS Plus subscriber gets a little extra - the German Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. J-PS premium tank, another garage slot and three Premium days for the game.

There's also a launch offer to get the exclusive free American T1E6-PS tank if you sign up to the game before January's end.
