This War of Mine: The Little Ones is coming to consoles in January

Won't somebody please think of the children?

11 bit's civilian-based war sim This War of Mine is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on 29th January as This War of Mine: The Little Ones, publisher Deep Silver has announced.

The console edition of This War of Mine offers a fresh perspective on survival by putting players in the role of a child.

"This War of Mine: The Little Ones focuses on the reality of enduring war and the idea that even in war, kids are still kids - they laugh, cry, play with toys and see the world differently," the publisher explained. "In addition to thinking about survival, you'll have to bring back the kid in yourself to understand how to protect the little ones."

Senior writer Pawel Miechowski offered a more detailed scenario about a child and their father holding up with two strangers as the band of civilians try to teach the youngin' some practical skills while talking around the bleak reality of their current predicament.

"Something feels wrong. You notice your father is sad. The other folk also seem a bit down. You realise that things may end up badly," Miechowski said on the PlayStation Blog. "They act normal but they know the truth. And as energetic as you are, those bad feelings sneak into your mind too."
