Overkill vows to fix broken Payday 2 on Xbox One by the end of 2015

"Full remake" of matchmaking in the works.

Developer Overkill has promised to fix Payday 2 on Xbox One by the end of 2015.

The console version of the multiplayer first-person shooter has suffered from a raft of matchmaking issues since it launched in June, as well as a lack of updates from Overkill - all at a time when the PC version of the game continues to enjoy solid support.

Now, producer Almir Listo has apologised for the ongoing troubles, and said a radical overhaul of Payday 2's systems was being worked on.

"We want to apologise for our lack of communication with the status on both platforms (Xbox One and PS4)," Listo wrote in a post on Reddit.

"You deserve to get updates on a more regular basis, and we understand it's frustrating to see the PC version of the game getting update after update while you wait to know what's going on."

A "full remake" of Payday 2's Xbox One matchmaking system that will simplify the way players join games is in the works.

"This is a solution that is built from the ground up, as the previous matchmaking system we have for PS4 and PC doesn't work well with your platform," Listo explained.

"Right now this is our number one priority. Our ambition is to go live with the new matchmaking system and additional fixes within the coming weeks, and no later than the end of the year. Does that mean that we want to release it on 31st of December? Absolutely not, we want to get it done ASAP."

Overkill plans to give console players all the content the PC version has in future updates, but it's yet to decide on a release plan.
