Tango Fiesta will be released live at EGX

And there's now another game chronicling its creation.

PC cartoon co-op shooter Tango Fiesta will be released Thursday 24th September, Eurogamer can reveal. The aim is to launch live on stage at EGX in Birmingham during the Tango Fiesta Rezzed developer session, which starts at 4.30pm BST if you're headed there. I'm afraid it isn't being streamed.

Choosing to launch there completes something of a full circle for Tango Fiesta, for it was at Rezzed in 2013, in a game jam, this homage to 1980's action films was conceived. It didn't win, but subsequently grabbed enough attention that developer Spilt Milk bench-pressed Tango Fiesta into a full game. Tango Fiesta returned to the Rezzed stage a year later shortly before a Steam Early Access release. Our Martin Robinson wrote about Tango Fiesta's story back then.

Thing is, Spilt Milk has now gone one better and made another game to tell the story of Tango Fiesta. It's called, dramatically, The Legend of Tango. It's a little meta-game accompaniment styled as a JRPG and it is available now free on Steam. There's a trailer below and apparently there are some familiar faces in it!

Tango Fiesta costs £9.99 on Steam, and there will be a small discount at launch.
