We've all seen the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter pitch, but meanwhile, here's what a diehard Shenmue fan's been cooking up:

Last year Korean modder NoconKid began remaking Shenmue in HD and their valiant fan effort has continued, now in Unreal Engine 4.

Previously NoconKid reconstructed a series of Shenmue locales in Unreal Engine 3, but this time he's stepped it up and recreated the Hazuki Residence in UE4. The modder said in their YouTube notes that they created the Ryo model by modifying the one from Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing.

Apparently Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki was so enamoured by this fan remake that he featured it on a recent Twitch livestream.

If this project ever results in a full game it won't be a commercial product.

Recently Shenmue 3 set the new world record for the most successful Kickstarter game ever with an ending tally of $6.33m.
