Ah, WipEout, the blisteringly fast future racer for PlayStation. No more.

Sony closed Studio Liverpool, née Psygnosis, back in 2012, and there hasn't been a sniff of a PlayStation 4 WipEout game since.

But what we do have are WipEout ships for Resogun, Housemarque's PlayStation arcade shoot 'em up.

The classic WipEout ships added to the game will be familiar to fans of the series:

  • AG Systems
  • Auricom
  • Feisar
  • Piranha
  • Qirex

Each ship has been specifically modelled to represent its classic Wipeout look, Sony said, and feature custom attribute set ups to reflect their strengths in speed and weaponry. Check them out in the video below.

The ships are available tomorrow from the PlayStation Store priced £1.19 / €1.49 each, or in a pack for £3.29 / €3.99. Or they're free for season pass owners.

Not quite a new WipEout on PS4, then, but, well, at least we've got something WipEout on PS4.
