ORIGINAL STORY: Sony and Insomniac has put out a trailer for the new Ratchet & Clank for PlayStation 4.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Insomniac community chief James Stevenson said the developer set out to create a "re-imagining" of the 2002 original, but ended up making a new game.

The video, below, shows off this new game in what Sony calls a re-reveal. It includes snippets of "in-game footage", which looks impressive indeed.

"We ended up with a new game, with elements based on the original - but now with modern controls, several new planets, new and updated gameplay segments, all-new Clank gameplay, all new boss fights, new flight sequences, and more, all constructed to take advantage of the PS4's graphical prowess," Stevenson said.

"Throw in James Arnold Taylor as Ratchet, and you have a new beginning."

Stevenson added that the majority of the weapons in the new Ratchet & Clank weren't in the original game, so both new weapons and weapons from the Ratchet & Clank Future series will make an appearance. One of the new weapons is the Pixelizer, which transforms enemies into 8-bit pixels. You can see that in action in the video.

If you pre-order the game you get The Bouncer weapon from Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked & Loaded. This launches a bomb that releases homing bombs that bounce towards targets.

The Ratchet & Clank game, due out spring 2016, is being made alongside the CG-animated film, also due out in 2016.
