NHL 16 restores trimmed features, introduces playoff beards

Promises "accurate growth rates for individual players".

EA Sports has detailed the full feature set for NHL 16, which includes many offerings trimmed from in last year's instalment.

Beat that, Geralt.

But, most excitingly, the game now includes playoff beards - honouring the tradition of hockey teams that leave their facial fuzz untrimmed until they either win or are booted out of the Stanley Cup.

"One of the oldest and most iconic traditions in hockey has arrived," EA's blurb states.

"With accurate representations of beard patterns, length, thickness, and growth rates for individual players, the road to the Stanley Cup just got hairier."

Whose job it was to measure all of this, we're not sure.

Fans of the series will also likely welcome the return of features such as Hockey League, couch co-op, an improved Ultimate Team, Be A Legend modes and more.

Last year's NHL 15 was the first for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but shaved out numerous features that had been present in NHL 14.

This year, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners can buy NHL Legacy - basically a repackaged version of NHL 15 with a roster update.
