Overkill's The Walking Dead confirmed for PS4, Xbox One and PC

Due in 2016, 505 Games to publish.

Last summer Payday 2 developer Overkill announced that it would be making a co-op first-person shooter based on The Walking Dead. Now, that game has been confirmed for PS4, Xbox One and PC for a 2016 release, Overkill's parent company Starbreeze has announced.

Furthermore, the developer just announced a publishing deal with 505 Games.

This may not be a huge surprise as Payday 2 was published by 505 Games, as was Starbreeze's Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.

"505 Games partner[ship] with us on the console publishing for 'Overkill's The Walking Dead' will streamline the distribution and marketing of the title in the traditional space and on the digital console marketplace," said Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint. "Having worked together before on the successful Payday-franchise, we are certain this will be a fruitful collaboration."

According to the publisher, Overkill's The Walking Dead "will deliver a completely new co-op experience to The Walking Dead-universe, exploring new characters and storylines." That being said, it will be set in the comic's canon, not the TV show's.
