Amiibo Touch & Play: Nintendo Classics Highlights free download on Wii U this week

I'd tap that.

Nintendo launches Amiibo Touch & Play: Nintendo Classics Highlights this Thursday, 30th April as a free download on Wii U.

The app contains three-minute demos of various NES and SNES games, which are unlocked when you tap an Amiibo to the Wii U's GamePad.

Demos are unlocked at random, so any Amiibo figure can unlock any trial version. Up to 10 "scenes" from each game are included to try.

Amiibo Touch & Play was announced during the last Nintendo Direct conference, when it was slated for launch in Europe during May.

Its trial experiences are similar to the selection available in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U's Masterpieces mode, although are expanded upon here to provide another experience compatible with Amiibo.

And, of course, after each trial ends you are then able to play more by unlocking the full version, available to buy via the Wii U eShop.

Sometimes we include links to online retail stores. If you click on one and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. Read our policy.
