Nintendo introduces Amiibo Cards with Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer

An interior decorating simulator.

Nintendo has revealed an Animal Crossing spin-off entitled Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.

Due this autumn, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer casts players in the role of an interior decorator tasked with creating a suitable environment for the various personalities they'll meet.

This feng shui-based spin-off will mark the debut of Nintendo's Amiibo Cards. These cards give you extra characters to please, and if you scan additional cards you can get these extra characters to come visit your client in their home.

The Amiibo Cards are obviously more portable for on-the-go play, and the New Nintendo 3DS comes with built-in Amiibo functionality. Other forms of 3DS (i.e. the original 3DS, 3DS XL, and 2DS) will require a separate NFC reader/writer accessory that will launch the same time as Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.
