Woah Dave! has received a free update to a "Deluxe" version on Steam.

You're a legend, Dave.

Developer Choice Provisions noted on its blog that this update "will be free for all platforms" (that's PS4, Vita, 3DS and iOS).

"If you're waiting to check it out on other systems, you won't have to wait long. We're working as hard as we can to get it out everywhere!" said developer Dant Rambo.

So what does this new update add, you ask? Here's the rundown:

  • Two new levels
  • Five new characters (plus a hidden sixth)
  • Boss battles
  • New enemy types
  • Rideable UFOs
  • A "Classic Mode" (i.e. the original version of the game pre-update)
  • A few additional Easter eggs

Additionally, Woah Dave! is coming to Wii U, where it will arrive in its Deluxe form with all the newly added content.

We found Woah Dave! to be a really entertaining arcade spin on Hot Potato wherein holding on to any object too long results in in blowing up in your hands. "It's fantastically refreshing to be reminded of how absorbing a single screen, a handful of rules and some colourful squares can be," wrote Eurogamer regular Dan Whitehead in his glowing Woah Dave! review.

Our Chris Donlan also investigated one of its most unique features that was actually borne as a bug.

In other Choice Provisions news, the independent developer has expanded its business to become a publisher. The first three titles under its belt include randomised shmup Shütshimi and retro RPGs Dragon Fantasy: The Volumes of Westeria and Dragon Fantasy: The Black Tome of Ice (formerly Dragon Fantasy Book 1 & 2).

Shütshimi is coming to Wii U, Steam, Vita and PS4 in Q2 while the Dragon Fantasy games premiered on PS3 and Vita, but Choice Provisions is bringing them to 3DS, Wii U and Steam in Q1 and Q3 respectively.
