Yakuza 5 heads to Europe and North America in 2015

Yakuza 4 and Yakuza: Dead Souls out on PSN midnight.

Yakuza 5 will launch on PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network in Europe and North America at some point in 2015, Sega has announced. The Japanese crime adventure came out in Japan in December 2012.

Yakuza 4 and Yakuza: Dead Souls will launch for PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network in Europe at 00.01 on Sunday - yes, that's midnight tonight. Both games already saw a disc release on these shores.

Yakuza 5 follows the events of Yakuza 4, and continues the story of Kazuma Kiryu, alongside four other protagonists. It's set in five Japanese cities, includes a raft of mini-games and a modified battle system. Also included is Another Drama, a series of side stories that focus on each protagonist in-depth.

"The world of the Yakuza series has fascinated gamers in Japan and the West for many years," said Sega of America boss John Cheng.

"We know fans have been eagerly awaiting a release of Yakuza 5 here and we are thrilled to finally launch this spectacular entry in the series in North America and Europe."

There's no news, however, on Yakuza 0, in development for PlayStation 4 and PS3 and due out in Japan in 2015.
