"There is no doubt The Longest Journey lends itself perfectly to mobile and tablet devices, it plays really well," said series creator Ragnar Tørnquist.

"This release will open up The Longest Journey universe to a whole new audience, but it's also a great way for veterans to experience the adventure again. It's a great springboard into Dreamfall and Dreamfall Chapters!"

ORIGINAL STORY 28/10/14 8.15pm Funcom's classic 2000 point-and-click adventure The Longest Journey is coming to iOS in a remastered edition "very soon" according to the developer.

In fact, it's already out in Australia and New Zealand where it costs $8.99.

"We're using Australia and New Zealand as test markets for an initial release," Funcom said in a statement to PocketGamer. "And if all goes well we hope to release it in more markets very soon."

The game's episodic sequel, Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey, debuted last week on PC and Mac after raising over $1.5 million on Kickstarter in March 2013.
