Zelda fans re-making Ocarina of Time in 2D

Could take a Lon Lon while.

Fans of Nintendo's N64 classic Zelda: Ocarina of Time are trying to remake the entire adventure in 2D for PC.

The game is being shrunk down to the series' classic top-down view, similar to the one used in Zelda games for the NES, SNES and on handhelds.

Cut-scenes are being drawn, enemy AI is being programmed, and Ocarina's main themes are being re-recorded in fittingly 16-bit versions.

Around 10 people are working on the game, dubbed OOT 2D, which is now around 10 per cent complete.

We're not sure what Nintendo will think of the project, but for the moment you can download a working version of the game's opening to try out for yourself.
