The games industry is packing its bags and making its way for sunny, meaty Cologne where it's going to spend the new few days gorging on the great and good of the next few months as well as devouring a handful of new announcements. There will be sausages, and there will be games.

We'll be there to hoover up all of this information, and all of the pork, with live reporting on each major press conference and big game from people on the ground in Cologne. The few of us holding up the fort at home will probably scoot down to Lewisham's Sausage Man to get into the swing of things, before popping back to give you some extra insight and commentary.

To get you primed for next week's event, we've put together a quick Q&A covering everything you need to know about Gamescom this year, from the starting times of each conference to what we expect each platform holder to show. As soon as each conference has finished, we'll also update this article with links to all of the key information that comes out of them.

What did Sony reveal at Gamescom this year?

It was a fairly good show from Sony this year, with lots of new games from its European studios and a few new exclusives, too. Michel Ancel's Wild was probably the pick of the bunch, a brilliantly eccentric looking open world game where you can play as any living creature within it. Media Molecule also revealed it's bringing Tearaway to the PS4, and Ninja Theory is working on Hellblade - which looks very much like a Heavenly Sword sequel, even if only in spirit. Oh, and DayZ is coming to PS4!

What did EA show at Gamescom this year?

EA finished off the conferences for us this year, delivering our first look at Battlefield Hardline's single-player as well as revealing Shadow Realms, an intriguing new RPG from BioWare. Oh, and they played The Sims on-stage for ages but I don't think anyone was really paying attention at that point.

And the rest!

Complementing the three briefings this year are a couple of other live reveals, and we'll be bringing you both of them.

Again, we'll be bringing it to you live on Eurogamer, as well as bringing you all the news from the show as it happens. It's all kicking off at 7pm UK time.
