Valve announces Newcomers' Broadcast for Dota 2 The International tournament

First place team stands to win $5m.

New to the overwhelming world of Dota but fancy watching the upcoming Dota 2 tournament The International? Valve's got your back.

It's launching a new Newcomers' Broadcast, one of three new broadcasts planned for The International, to help people understand the massively popular multiplayer online battle arena game better.

"New to Dota? Or maybe you play Dota but have never gotten interested in the professional side of the game. Welcome to the Newcomers' Broadcast, an English stream happening alongside the main stream, featuring commentary aimed at easing people into understanding the exciting world of BKBs, tri-lanes, and counter-picks," reads the official description.

Another new broadcast is the Spoiler-Free DVR broadcast, which sees each day's entire broadcast available from the stream navigator in the Watch Section, complete with pause and rewind features. Only the match results from the previous days' games will be displayed, so you'll avoid spoilers.

And then there's the International Multicast, a fifth live stream consolidating all the interesting games, unexpected picks, big team fights and more in one package with commentary and analysis. It's a way to watch four games at once.

Meanwhile, The International prize pool, boosted by sales of The Compendium, has reached an incredible $10.4m.

Valve has now announced how that money will be divided up between the winning teams. First place gets an eye-watering $4.8m. Second place gets $1.4m and third gets $993,495. All these figures will rise over the coming weeks. Hit refresh a few times over at The International website to see how quickly the money is pouring in. (As Eurogamer reader rivuzu points out, website there's a prize pool tracker perfect for this kind of thing.)

The International runs from 18-21 July 2014 at the Key Arena in Seattle.
