Dead Island 2 announced

PlayStation 4 gets exclusive character and level.

UPDATE 09:15 BST: It turns out that Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager is developing Dead Island 2, as revealed on the official website.

The game is due out on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in spring 2015.

ORIGINAL STORY: Mouldy zombie series Dead Island is getting a new entry on next-gen consoles - Dead Island 2 - which will have exclusive content on PlayStation 4.

A cheeky CG trailer shown during Sony's conference showed a runner slowing turning into zombie during a casual jog along a sunny beachfront, as the world around him turned to hell.

The game's publisher is Deep Silver, but there's no word yet on which studio is developing.

When it does launch, Dead Island 2 will get an exclusive character class and level on PS4, and a 30-day beta before then.
