Rebellion makes Sniper Elite V2 free on Steam

Until 6pm tonight.

UK developer Rebellion has made World War 2 first-person shooter Sniper Elite V2 free to download from Steam until 6pm UK time tonight.

Rebellion chief Jason Kingsley said: "V2's one of Rebellion's most successful ever games, but it's been out for over two years now. We think the loyal Sniper Elite community will welcome some fresh blood on the multiplayer servers, while new players will get to experience the things that make the series unique, and sharpen their skills before the release of Sniper Elite 3."

The promotion launched yesterday, and already it's sparked 1.8m downloads of the game, with around 40,000 people playing every hour, Rebellion told Eurogamer.

Speaking of Sniper Elite 3, it launches on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC on 27th June 2014.
