Hearthstone - gold farming, quests, rewards, cap, achievements

Our guide to making all the Gold you need to get off to a great start in Hearthstone, then keep the cash rolling in as you play the game.

While there's plenty of Hearthstone to enjoy without spending a penny, you're going to need Gold if you want to improve your card collection or participate in the Arena after you've used your first free entry. Fortunately, you can pick up up a steady chunk of change in the game just by participating in player-versus-player matches, completing Daily Quests, and finishing special one-off quests.

Hearthstone Daily Quest guide

You'll be given a new Daily Quest every single day, but you can only have up to three of them banked at any one time. To receive new quests after this point, you'll need to complete one to open up a free slot. If you don't like the new quest you've been given, you can click on the X icon in the top right-hand corner of the quest card to throw it away, although you can only do this once a day. You'll be given a new random quest to replace it. Just keep in mind that you might dislike the new one more than the original!

Quests typically reward you with 40 or 60 Gold as soon as you complete them, but there's one very special Daily Quest that you should never throw away, as you'll get a juicy 100 Gold for ticking off a not-unreasonable seven victories with any class. For reference, here are all of the Daily Quests you can get in Hearthstone.

Hearthstone Gold guide

Another way to make cash in Hearthstone is to simply play games in either the Casual or Ranked sections of the Play mode. You'll receive 10 Gold for every three matches you win, but note that you can only earn up to 100G in any given day using this method.

If you're feeling confident and comfortable with the game's mechanics and classes, you can also start playing the Arena mode of Hearthstone. It costs 150 Gold to enter after your first free run though, and you'll only make that Gold back if you achieve a large number of victories.

While that may not sound great, you always get at least some of your Arena fee back, along with some card crafting dust, a guaranteed free deck of cards, and the chance to get a random card from across Hearthstone's entire collection. Arena's playstyle isn't for everyone, but if you enjoy the game mode it's a tremendous way to make cash and get better at the game overall.

Hearthstone Gold tips

To get some quick money in your pockets, the first thing you should do is take the starting Mage class to level 10. This won't take long at all, and you'll tick off the Level Up! quest for a cheap 100 Gold. Now use your Mage to beat all of the other classes in the game, which will not only unlock them for play, you'll also get another 100 Gold for completing Ready to Go! Your next job is to get every class to level 10, so that you unlock all of the Basic cards in the game and complete Got the Basics!

At this point you've got a few options. First, you could jump into Arena using the free pass you receive for your first attempt. Depending on how well you perform in there, you'll come out with some bonus Gold. Alternatively, playing three games in Play mode will grant you a card pack, as well as 100 Gold for completing First Blood and The Duelist. You can also kill the Expert AI heroes in Practice mode for another 100 Gold.

Once you've finished off these quick quests, the greater part of your income is going to be derived from playing Arena, completing Daily Quests and winning sets of games in Play mode.
