Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel release date announced

New trailer co-created with Rock Band dev Harmonix.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel launches in the UK on 17th October 2014, 2K and Gearbox has announced.

The first-person shooter will release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a co-production between 2K Australia and Gearbox, and is set between Borderlands 1 and 2 on Pandora's moon. There are four new character classes and low gravity gameplay.

If you pre-order, you get the Shock Drop Slaughter Pit bonus content, which includes zero-atmosphere combat against the toughest enemies on Pandora's moon. As a result, the in-game loot on offer is unique.

The Shock Drop Slaughter Pit content takes place in an old Dahl facility on Pandora's moon. There you meet TR4-NU, who once was one of Dahl's military recruiters until he went crazy. TR4-NU is now hosting the Shock Drop Slaughter Pit.

To coincide with the announcement of the release date, Gearbox released a new trailer, below. Dance Central and Rock Band developer Harmonix helped out with its creation.

"Claptrap's wub wub dance moves in the Borderlands 2 Doomsday Trailer were so awesome, that 2K and Gearbox wanted to find a way to top them, knowing that it would be tough task," 2K said.

"And the only way to do that, was to work with Harmonix to make an even awesomer, moon dance sequence just for this trailer."
