The next Skylanders teleports digital characters into physical world

Trap villains and hear them squirm.

Activision has unveiled the next Skylanders game - and it features a new mechanic that lets players teletport digital characters into the physical world.

Skylanders Trap Team, developed by original Skylanders developer Toys for Bob, sees players pull in-game villains, including series big bad boss Kaos, out of the game after capturing them with magic traps. You can then send them back into the game and play as them.

Trap Team comes with a new Traptanium Portal. Once you defeat a villain you can place a Trap into the new portal to capture them. You then hear the villain squirm inside the Trap.

You can switch between playing as a Skylander hero or a villain at any time, and, as you'd expect, you can take your traps and Skylanders characters to your friends' houses and use them on their consoles.

Trap Team, due out on 10th October for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii, Wii U and 3DS, introduces a new line of Skylanders, called Core Skylanders, and Trap Masters.

So how much does it all cost? The Skylanders Trap Team Starter Pack costs £64.99 on Wii U, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3, and £59.99 on Wii and 3DS. The Starter Pack includes the new Traptanium Portal, two new Skylanders (Food Fight and Snap Shot), a poster, sticker sheets with codes and trading cards.
