Get Even gets virtual reality

Project Morpheus and Oculus Rift support in the works.

Get Even, the next game from the people behind Painkiller and Deadfall Adventures, will support virtual reality headsets.

Polish developer The Farm 51 has also launched a Steam Greenlight campaign in an effort to have the first-person shooter sold on Steam when it's released in 2015.

"In The Farm 51 we think of a video game world as an alternate reality, not that of an interactive movie," lead designer Wojtek Pazdur said.

"The exciting opportunities offered by virtual reality and developments in that sector offer a huge benefit to a game aimed to be as immersive as ours. Get Even has the potential to support the VR concept like no other title. This is why we want to be a part of this new revolution and is why Get Even can be a landmark title in its use."

Get Even is said to blur the line between single-player and multiplayer with "ambitious new dynamic and photorealistic graphics". When players embark on a single-player mission, others on the network can join the quest as enemies, so players never know whether their opponents are human or controlled by the game.

The story is focused on the memories of the game's heroes, and the route the player chooses to follow determines the heroes' personality as the plot unfolds. The Farm 51 said Get Even mixes elements of thriller and horror with exploration.

"What would happen if you can travel between different virtual realities, starting outside the game using a device like Oculus or Project Morpheus before going deeper and deeper inside the game using similar in-game gadgets?" the studio asked.
