Xbox One firmware update due in March - report

White-coloured Xbox One also on the horizon.

Microsoft will launch its much-needed Xbox One dashboard update in March, a new report suggests.

The firmware refresh will - as promised - include fixes for the console's much-maligned party chat system and a reorganisation of the platform's social features.

Both issues have been continually criticised by users, who have drawn up a list of fixes and missing features they'd like implemented.

Details of the update originated on NeoGAF but have been idependently verified by The Verge, including word of an October release for Microsoft's White-coloured Xbox One model.

The chic white colour has so far only been available to members of Microsoft's internal Xbox development team - hundreds were made and given away to developers at the console's launch. At least one of the machines were auctioned off for charity - and notched up £5000.

The same source also indicated that Microsoft would launch a 1TB Xbox One model in November and was continuing to look into a version of the console without a Blu-Ray drive (perhaps the two models are one and the same?). The company investigated releasing a disc-less version at the console's launch, although plans were put on hold.
