Nintendo confirms Toon Link for Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS

We knew he'd be in from the Outset.

Nintendo has announced another returning fighter for the 3DS and Wii U incarnations of Super Smash Bros. It's Toon Link, from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.

His inclusion makes a lot of sense - Wind Waker HD is due for release next month, and the cel-shaded version of the character has gained considerable popularity since Wind Waker's initial release, enough to star in DS spin-offs Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

Toon Link is the latest in a line of returning characters already confirmed for the games: Peach, Luigi, Kid Icarus' Pit and Pikmin's Olimar have already been confirmed, alongside returning regulars Mario, Bowser, Link, Samus, Donkey Kong, Fox, Kirby and Pikachu.

New additions to the games' roster will include Mega Man, Animal Crossing's Villager and the Wii Fit Trainer.
