Planetary Annihilation beta out later this month

Retail release set for December.

Planetary Annihilation, the RTS made by Monday Night Combat developer Uber Entertainment, will go into beta later in September.

Uber hopes to release the retail version in December, it said in an update on Planetary Annihilation's Kickstarter page.

"Beta is the word of the month over here," the developer said, "as the team marches towards that release. You poke your head in the office for just a few minutes and undoubtedly you'll hear it a couple times. We eat, sleep, and think beta - which, by the way, is safer than it sounds."

The beta version includes interplanetary war, colonisation and the blowing up of planets.

Uber smashed its $900,000 crowdfunding goal, raising $2.2 million on Kickstarter for Planetary Annihilation off the back of over 44,000 backers.

There are four versions of the game currently available to pre-order, the cheapest of which is $40.
