Ubisoft's beautiful Child of Light confirmed for PC, PS4, Xbox One

Far Cry 3 director's watercolour adventure also coming to current-gen.

Child of Light developer Ubisoft has revealed new details of the project, which is destined for release next year on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

The platforming RPG focuses on a young flame-haired princess named Aurora, a girl trapped in a waking dream.

The game is the work of Far Cry 3 director Patrick Plourde, and is being built using UbiArt - Ubisoft Montpellier's Rayman engine.

Child of Light is designed to look a like a moving watercolour painting - a fairytale legend come to life.

A second player can join in co-op play as Igniculus, a fiery blue orb. He can aid in battles by blinding enemies and interrupting them during their attacks, collecting items and healing party members. Outside of battle he can discover hidden areas and treasure.

Ubisoft's trailer, below, shows off Child of Light's world, characters and the game's turn-based JRPG-style battles.
