Halo and Gears of War writer joins Amazon Games Studios

"I wouldn't be there unless something cool was brewing."

Sci-fi author and former writer and story consultant for Microsoft Game Studios, Eric Nylund, has joined up with Amazon Game Studios as its new director of narrative design.

The writer updated his LinkedIn to reflect this, and a picture of his new business card was posted on his Facebook (via Couch Campus). Along with this tantalising photo, he wrote, "I can't talk about specifics, but I wouldn't be there unless something cool was brewing."

Nylund is best known for his work on the Halo franchise where he formed that series' lore as well as penned four novels and one comic book based in that universe. He also laid the groundwork for Gears of War's story and world.

This high profile acquisition by Amazon suggests that it's working on something big and recent reports have suggested that it's even planning to launch a new Android-based console in the months ahead.
