There are no plans for a ZombiU sequel, says Ubisoft CEO

It was not even close to being profitable.

Despite being totally awesome, Ubisoft's Wii U launch game ZombiU was a massive commercial flop.

When I said 'and stay down,' I didn't really mean it, grotesque zombie. Come back!

The first-person survival/horror game was not profitable, according Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot in an interview with GamesIndustry International. The report added that it was "not even close" to turning a profit and "there are no plans (or even desire) for a sequel."

This flies contrary to reports only a couple of months ago that Ubisoft was allegedly prototyping a sequel to its critically-acclaimed horror curio.

Guillemot confessed that it was ZombiU's poor sales that convinced the French publisher to bring the highly anticipated formerly Wii U-exclusive Rayman Legends to PS3 and Xbox 360.

"We must find a way to ensure the creativity of those games could have a big enough audience," he said. "We hope it will take off. At the moment, we've said 'let's do through Christmas and see where we are from there.'"

This is truly a shame as ZombiU is still one of the most original games on Nintendo's fledgling console. Both Rich Stanton and Martin Robinson know what's up.
