David Jaffe is working on car combat game Autoduel with new studio Pixelbionic

Coming soon to Kickstarter.

God of War and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe has joined indie studio Pixelbionic to work as its creative adviser on a new vehicular combat game entitled Autoduel.

Autoduel is a PC online multiplayer game inspired by Interstate '76 and Jaffe's own Twisted Metal. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, Autoduel will feature team-based combat with over twenty unique cars to choose from. Much like the latest Twisted Metal, these will span three factions: the Ratters, the Scavengers, and the Techies.

Jaffe is only one of several veteran game developers at Pixelbionic. CEO Maxx Kaufman was formerly at inXile and worked as art director on Return to Castle Wolfenstein and The Bard's Tale, while president Mike Arkin was a producer on such titles as Die Hard Trilogy, Battlezone and the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series.

"I was super excited when I heard Pixelbionic's vision for Autoduel," said Jaffe. "As a huge fan of the genre, I'm really looking forward to contributing to the game's vision and design goals."

Autoduel will be a crowdsourced project with a Kickstarter launching in the near future.
