Nintendo selling refurbished 3DS, DSi XL consoles in US

No plans to do the same in Europe.

Nintendo has begun selling pre-owned 3DS and DSi XL handhelds in North America via its official online store.

The "authentic Nintendo refurbished products" come with a one year warranty, Nintendo Everything reported.

Despite "minor cosmetic blemishes", the handhelds are guaranteed to be technically fully functional - "cleaned, tested, and inspected to meet Nintendo's high standards".

Prices range from $99 (£65) for a Metallic Rose or Midnight Blue DSi XL, up to $169 for an Aqua Blue or Midnight Purple 3DS with Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

The offer is unique to Nintendo of America at present.

"We currently have no plans and have made no announcements for this type of activity in Europe," a Nintendo UK spokesperson told Eurogamer.

Thinking of importing? 3DS consoles are region-locked, although DS games are region-free.
