The Sea Will Claim Everything dev launches Indiegogo for Ithaka of the Clouds

i.e. the fourth Lands of Dreams game.

The Sea Will Claim Everything creators Jonas Kyratzes and Verena Kyratzes have launched and Indiegogo campaign for Ithaka of the Clouds, the fourth game in their Lands of Dreams series of text-heavy point-and-click adventures.

Their previous titles in the series - The Fabulous Screech, The Book of Living Magic, and The Sea Will Claim Everything - had something of a cult following and Ithaka of the Clouds is already over halfway towards meetings its $12,000 goal after only a few days. Its current total comes to $7,092 with 26 days left before its 24th March deadline.

The Lands of Dreams series is known for its quirky hand-drawn illustrations and flowery prose that's filled with Terry Gilliam-esque oddball fantasy critters and peculiar worlds. They're basically interactive children's books for adults. Which doesn't make a lot of sense, but that's where the beauty of them lies, I suppose.

Ithaka of the Clouds will follow the exploits of two troll lovers as they search for the titular city. Kyratzes explained that it was inspired by the works of Greek poet Constantine Cavafy. Selling points include: bad puns, philosophy, mushrooms, and walls of text. "Yes. We believe in the power of words," wrote Kyratzes.

He also noted that Ithaka of the Clouds "won't necessarily be the last Lands of Dream game, but it is the end of a cycle" in his pitch video.

While Ithaka of the Clouds will likely be funded, Kryatzes said that he'd like to remake The Strange and Somewhat Sinister Tale of the House at Desert Bridge and The Book of Living Magic as stretch goals - though a specific target has yet to be announced. He ensured that the remakes would remain free, if produced.

$10 donations will grant players a copy of Ithaka of the Clouds upon its release on PC, Mac and Linux around September to November or so this year. $15 donations will come with either the soundtrack or The Seam Will Claim Everything. Your choice.

In the meantime, feel free to check out the absolutely free earlier entries in the series The Fabulous Screech and The Book of Living Magic.
