Warhammer 40K board game Space Hulk is being adapted for PC, Mac and iOS

Features cross-platform multiplayer and a level editor.

The 1989 Warhammer 40,000 board game spin-off Space Hulk is being adapted into a video game for PC, Mac, and iOS. It's due sometime next year.

The turn-based strategy game is being developed by Full Control, and features Space Marine Terminators fighting Alien Genestealers. Remember, this game originated in the 80s when James Cameron movies were popular. Clearly we've otherwise come a long way from space marines fighting aliens, right?

Publisher Games Workshop, creators of the original Space Hulk, described this conversion as a "turn-based game that emulates the look and feel of the board game, but with full 3D animation."

The 12 mission single-player and co-op will be based on the Sin of Damnation campaign from the third edition of the board game from 2009. Additionally, there will be cross-platform competitive multplayer, a level editor and DLC expansions to come.

“Since playing the board game decades ago I have always wanted to recreate this slice of Warhammer 40,000 as a computer game. Now we can finally bring the board game to life in glorious 3D full of scary Genestealers and mighty Terminators fighting for human kind,” said Full Control CEO, Thomas Hentschel Lund.

Head of licensing for Games Workshop Jon Gillard added, "Their [Full Control's] passion for the game and their development skill, combined with the power of the Warhammer 40,000 setting is going to create something very special indeed. There are a lot of people here at Games Workshop who are desperate to get this on their iPads!"
