Oddball companion app is another way to collect Pokemon Black and White 2 creatures

Dream Radar AR game costs £2.69.

Nintendo has launched a Pokémon Black and White 2 companion app on the 3DS eShop that costs £2.69.

Pokémon Dream Radar is a standalone mini-game that lets you run around your living room capturing 3D monsters, which appear around the player using AR technology.

Captured critters - including rare breeds - can then be transferred into Black and White 2 when played on 3DS.

Pokémon species may boast tweaked movesets from the standard ones found in Black and White 2, and can also come with rare items attached.

There's extra functionality for long-term Pokémon fans, too (Dillon and James should be happy). Legendary monsters will appear if you have DS titles Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold or SoulSilver inserted.

"Black and White 2 offers a compelling record of all that's great from 16 years of catching, collecting, collating and coaxing pocket monsters into ever more exciting forms, bit by wonderful bit," Dan Whitehead wrote in Eurogamer's Pokémon Black and White 2 review. It's out tomorrow.
