Ouya supports four controllers, in talks with Namco

"What's the point of playing in the living room if the other folks on the couch can't join in?"

A render of the Ouya controller, which is still a work in progress.

Ouya supports four controllers, it's been confirmed.

The people behind the crowd funded open source Android console advised those who want four controllers to arrive in March when the console itself ships to update their pledge on Kickstarter so everything arrives at the same time. So, if you pledge $99 for a console with one controller, you can pledge another $90 to receive an additional three controllers in March. If you've put down your money for the limited edition of Ouya, it will make sure the controllers are matched.

"What's the point of playing in the living room if the other folks on the couch can't join in?" the Ouya team asked on its Kickstarter page.

Meanwhile, it's been revealed that Ouya is in talks with Namco Bandai about bringing its games to the console. Ouya encouraged those interested to head to the Namco Facebook page to vote for the games they'd like to see.

The Ouya Kickstarter is in its final stretch. At the time of publication there were 14 hours left, with an incredible $7.76 million raised from nearly 58,000 backers.

"When Kickstarter ends tonight at 10 p.m. PT, the Ouya team will be celebrating together," it said. "It's been a lot of work, and a wild 29-day ride, but we are so grateful for the support. Our first toast will be dedicated to you, the backers who made Ouya possible.

"After that, it's back to work. We've got aggressive goals and we're going to deliver. We'll continue to push for the best content and coolest features we can bring to our little magic box. We'll keep you apprised of the controller as it takes shape. We'll continue to interact with you via Facebook, reddit, Twitter, Google+ and of course, our soon-to-come homepage at www.ouya.tv. And we'll continue to listen to your requests, and answer your questions.

"We cannot emphasize enough how much your actions and attitudes have influenced us. You've taken our dreams and made them your own, and together we will make them real.

"With that, I tip my hat to you, our backers/founders/friends."

Happy Android.
