Kirby conquers Japan chart, hustles Pokémon into second

Nintendo knocks Nintendo from top spot

A Wii compilation of classic Kirby games has conquered the Japanese weekly software chart.

Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition sold 100,286 copies on its first week on sale. It contains six past Kirby adventures, re-released to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary. A UK release remains uncertain.

That left Pokémon Black and White 2 in second place for the first time since the DS duo launched. The pair still managed to notch up another 92,179 sales, making for a healthy 2.38 million total since launch.

3DS farming RPG Rune Factory 4 arrived in third place, while a new title featuring Namco Bandai's Pokémon rival Digimon popped up in fourth.

The hardware chart saw another weekly dip in 3DS sales as Japan prepares for the launch of the 3DS XL. Nintendo's machine still comfortably outsold all rivals, however. PlayStation Vita sunk back into fourth place meanwhile, behind the PlayStation 3 and PSP.

The full hardware and software line-ups lie below, courtesy of chart company Media-Create (via NeoGAF).
