Battlefield 3 Premium racks up 800,000 subscribers

EA "very pleased" with first fortnight's sales.

The Battlefield 3 Premium service has secured 800,000 customers since launch a little over two weeks ago.

"We are very pleased with the performance so far," EA exec Patrick Soderlund told USA Today.

The service offers early access to all the game's DLC expansions, starting with this month's Close Quarters add-on, in return for £39.99/€49.99.

Might EA shoehorn the same sort of offer into some of its other titles?

"We're actually only two weeks into it, so it's a little early to tell how this is going to pay off. It certainly it looks very promising right now," replied Soderlund.
