Retro platformer-shooter GunLord out now for Dreamcast

Party like it's 1999!

Old school exploration-based action-platformer GunLord is out now for Dreamcast.

That's right! Dreamcast. German developer NG:Dev-Team really wanted to commit to this retro thing. In fact, GunLord actually came out last year on the Neo Geo.

NG:Dev-Team describes GunLord as a "Eurostyle Platformer with emphasis on exploring huge worlds and blasting off enemies" on the official site.

"This game features nine stages of exciting 2D game play with over 45 unique enemy types. Blast yourself through giant landscapes, explore caverns and reveal all secrets!"

Eurogamer's Damien McFerran spoke to NG:Dev-Team earlier this month about its unique approach to development. "Our philosophy is to create modernised old school games and to evolve them slowly," explained the studio's Timm Hellwig, who cited the 3DS and Steam as potential platforms for future projects.

GunLord can be purchased from the developer's official site. The regular edition of the Dreamcast version is €32, with the "Dragon Box" Collector's Edition €99, and Neo Geo copies starting at a whopping €319.
