Ubisoft explains Rainbow 6: Patriots E3 no-show
"The best thing for the brand was to not bring it to the show."
Intriguing shooter Rainbow 6: Patriots was withheld from E3 as it was "the best thing for the brand", publisher Ubisoft has said.
While the company revealed fresh titles Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Watch Dogs, previously-teased Rainbow 6: Patriots was conspicuously absent.
Ubisoft exec Tony Key reassured IGN the game was "still in active development", however.
"What we decided was that the best thing for the brand was to not bring it to the show right now," Key explained.
An impressive trailer last December featured a plot thick with domestic terrorism and political skullduggery. Then, in March, Ubisoft announced that Heavy Rain designer Jean-Sebastien Decant had taken charge of the project.
Key blamed the no-show on the fact Ubisoft's E3 showing was already jam-packed.
"We have a lot of other games that we want to focus people on and there will be more information on Rainbow coming."
The project was still slated for the current generation of consoles, Key added.
"This is the only generation that I know about, so I would assume yes."
