Why Crysis 2, Dragon Age 2 were pulled from Steam - report
And why Crysis 2: Maximum Edition is now allowed.
EA-published games Crysis 2 and Dragon Age 2 were pulled from Steam's marketplace due to issues surrounding the titles' in-game DLC stores, a new report suggests.
This feature caused the games to break Steam's terms of service, a source told Rock, Paper Shotgun. Both titles remained available from EA's rival Origin service.
But Crysis 2: Maximum Edition, which includes all of the game's DLC, is now available from Steam. The in-game store has been removed by developer Crytek (presumably because there is no more in-game content to sell), allowing the game back onto Valve's marketplace.
"Changes made by Crytek to Crysis 2: Maximum Edition have brought the game back into compliance with Steam's terms of service," an EA spokesperson said.
Since these changes were made by Crytek it is unclear if EA have any plans to releasing more Game of the Year-style editions which could fit Steam policies - or whether the practice of selling each game's DLC separately on Origin is more profitable.
