The BBC Sports app will provide coverage of "key sporting events during the summer and beyond", according to the EU PlayStation blog.

This will include the London 2012 Olympics, Wimbledon and Formula One.

Over 2500 hours of content will be broadcast during the Olympics alone, with up to 24 simultaneous events shown in HD.

No exact release date has been announced, but BBC promises the app will be available by the start of Wimbledon - that's the 25th June.
