Urban Trials set to rival Trials Evolution on PlayStation Vita

Polish developer planning to peddle Trials challenger.

RedLynx's acclaimed Trials Evolution has a rival: meet its PlayStation Vita lookalike, Urban Trials.

Urban Trials is the next project from Polish developer Tate Interactive, creator of Kao the Kangaroo. It's still currently scheduled for a "Q1 2012" launch - which obviously hasn't happened - threatening a head-on collision with RedLynx's racer.

How similar is Urban Trials? The Vita game boasts a "Trials motorbike with advanced physics model" which allows you to experience a "new kind of thrill".

You can race the ghosts of your friends, pimp your bike with custom parts and enjoy crashes which show off the game's human body dynamics. At least three different types of Trials bikes will be available to ride.

Scores are recorded for overall performance, plus things like your longest and highest jumps. You can also share pictures of your stunts taken in-game. 20 levels will be included, plus challenge and time trial modes.

Sony listed Urban Trials alongside big name brands such as Assassin's Creed, BioShock, FIFA and Call of Duty at gamescom 2011 last year, making it one of the Vita's "most anticipated" upcoming titles, Tate Interactive wrote on their website.

Little has been heard of the game since, so we've contacted Tate Interactive for an update. Hold on racing fans, your wait is almost over.
