Eurogamer.net Podcast #88

BlizzCon! Sonic! The internet versus the physical world!

Hello and welcome to episode 88 of the Eurogamer.net Podcast. We guarantee it will leave flaming tyre-tracks on the tarmac of your mind.

Tom Champion hosts and is joined by an all-star team around the podcast table: Oli Welsh, fresh(ish) from BlizzCon in LA; Tom Bramwell, fresh from playing Sonic Generations; and Wesley Yin-Poole, fresh from shouting at Capcom about its fighting games.

This week we activate the flux capacitor and time-travel all the way back to about 10 days ago to discuss BlizzCon 2011 - not just the new WOW expansion Mists of Pandaria, but StarCraft, BarCraft, Blizzard DOTA, the blossoming eSports scene and what Blizzard's plans for global domination might entail next.

Tom's been reviewing Sonic Generations, so he tip-toes his way around discussion of that without giving the score away. Apparently it's a return to form but nothing like Nintendo achieved with moving Mario into 3D etc. etc.

Finally we talk Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, how come it's being released just nine months after the original, and how come it isn't DLC. On a related note, is Limbo creator Dino Patti right that retail is "broken" and download gaming is the future?
