Under Defeat HD coming to PS3, Xbox 360

Sega resuscitates Dreamcast shoot 'em up.

A touched-up HD port of Sega arcade shoot 'em up Under Defeat is on its way to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

According to Japanese games mag Famitsu, as reported by Siliconera, original developer G.rev is handling the port and it'll be out in Japan on 19th January, presumably as a download.

Sega has yet to make a formal announcement, and there's no mention of a Western release yet. We'll update when we hear more.

The original arrived in arcades back in 2005, with a Dreamcast version following in 2006 - one of the final games released on the system.

"It's hard to shake the feeling that this is '80s gaming dressed in '00s visuals running on '90s hardware, wrote Eurogamer's Simon Parkin in his 7/10 Under Defeat review.

"The gameplay is sweet and eloquent but, underneath it's also tired and relentlessly derivative."
