Catherine worldwide sales reach 500k

Japanese, US gamers flock to buy.

Surreal but brilliant puzzle-platform-adventure game Catherine has sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide, Atlus parent Index has announced.

Catherine's sales helped Index record a healthy profit year-on-year, Andriasang reports. Those figures were aided further by the recent Japanese re-release of role-player Persona 2 on PSP.

Since its US launch in July, Catherine has become Atlus' biggest game in the publisher's 20-year history.

Such sales are well deserved; John Teti awarded the game a dreamy 9/10 in Eurogamer's Catherine review.

Catherine follows the awake and dream-time adventures of Vincent, a man plagued with nightmares as he struggles to choose between two women.

Catherine hasn't been released in Europe, but will be at some point early next year.
